What we tested

Across three sessions between 27 May and 3 June 2026, we tested 24 field players. Two off-ice sessions and one on-ice session — the same athletes, against the same standard, recorded across thirteen performance axes. VALD SmartSpeed, ForceDecks, NordBord, and ForceFrame data were integrated with on-ice test data into a single report.

What it showed

One player ranked fifth on the team off the ice and seventeenth on it. It wasn't a strength deficit — his available force wasn't transferring into on-ice performance. By eye, you get as far as “he's strong but slow on skates.” Why that is only shows up when you test both.

What changed

Instead of adding weight-room volume, we raised the priority of reactive strength and on-ice skill work. Giving an athlete more training and training the qualities he needs are different things. A team report and individual athlete reports were delivered, and we recommend retesting every 8–12 weeks during the season.
